Incorporated in 2004 after many years of planning and dreaming, a diverse Board of Directors including a lawyer, an actress, a former collegiate athlete and a social worker formed Double Dot Publishing. The company is named in memory of Dorothy "Dot" Ratto, mother of our founder, who loved her family and her garden, and who worked tirelessly for those less fortunate than she. We are dedicated to providing opportunities for first time authors and illustrators and founded on the principle that we are all talented and artistic. Double Dot is small enough to care deeply about every project we take on. We want to help you make your dream come true!

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Will DDP publish my book?:
A: As with any publisher, DDP cannot publish every book that is submitted to us. However, we are dedicated to affording opportunities to authors and illustrators who might otherwise be overlooked.
Q:Can DDP publish books with illustrations?
A: Yes! DDP works with printers who can publish books with both color and/or black and white illustrations. As you might expect, a book with pictures is typically more expensive to produce than one without. It follows that a book with color pictures is more expensive to produce than one with black and white illustrations.
Q: Will I have to pay DDP to publish my book?
A: No, unless both parties agree in advance that it is the best way to proceed. Unusual circumstances aside, DDP will front the cost of a book's publishing. As a business we will expect to recover our investment -as well as a portion of the profits- when the book sells.
Q: DDP specializes in children's books. What if my book is not for kids?
A: Although we focus on children's books, DDP considers publishing books on all topics. The only exceptions are books where we find the subject matter offensive or controversial.
Q: Will DDP help me sell my book?
A: DDP can help you market your book, but we will charge a larger percentage of the book's profit if we do so.
Q: Does DDP really employ people with special needs?A: Yes. DDP uses disabled artists, and affords other employment opportunities to persons with special needs.
Q: What can I do if I have written a book but I can't draw and I'd like it to be illustrated?
A: DDP can suggest artistic resources and/or we have professional illustrators that we can put you in contact with. If you prefer, we can find someone to do the illustrations for you.
Q: What should I do if I have questions?
A: You may contact us in a variety of ways, all of which are listed on our "contact us" page. Choose the link on this or any other of our pages to see your options. We will be happy to discuss your idea(s) with you, and if/how we will proceed from there.
